Texas Rapper’s ‘Gay Is OK’ Song Will Renew Your Faith in Humanity

Texas rapper Adair Lion released a new single off his upcoming album, Michael and Me, called “Ben,” a video about siblings trawling through rural Texas and coming home — gasp — to their two dads. The song, which samples Michael Jackson’s 1972 hit of the same name, is all swagger and confidence as he calls out big-name rappers who refuse to risk tarnishing their image by simply not dissing homosexuality. “It’s long overdue. Where you at, Wayne? I said it’s long overdue. Where you at, ’Ye?”

Lion closes the song by saying, “Ben is the name of someone I’ve never met — my dad. So why would I judge someone who’s trying to be two of what I never had?”

Powerful stuff. Oh, and the music’s pretty dope. Check it out.
