VIDEO: Stop Everything and Enjoy This Breakdancing Gorilla
There’s war. There’s famine. There are problems. But then there’s also a breakdancing gorilla, and for the moment at least, we let those problems dissipate as we check out the smooth moves of Zola.
Zola, according to the YouTube description, is a nine-year-old lowland gorillas currently living at the Calgary Zoo as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Gorilla Species Survival Plan. He is one of the eight gorillas being housed (or confined, if you wanna be all animal rightsy about it) at the zoo.
But this one loves to get down:
Now that’s just about the most awesome thing you’ll see today. That dude’s got better moves than the majority of people you’ll see at your next wedding, communion or Bat Mitzvah.
Or, again, if you wanna be all animal rightsy about, you can be like this YouTube commenter: “Poor animal – he’s in a disgusting concrete cage with wire all around him, nothing to stimulate him at all – appalling conditions to keep a gorilla in. Anyone who knows anything about animals will know this poor animal is just displaying signs of inate boredom and is going stir crazy. This is not good. Calgary Zoo hang your heads in shame.”
So, it’s up to you: Watch it and love it, or condemn the zoo. Either way, get funky.
