Batman Themed Hotel Room: Too Creepy for Its Own Good
Imagine for a moment that you are the type of person who travels to Taiwan or lives there. Now imagine you are the type of person who would be intrigued enough to stay in a themed hotel room. Now imagine that the hotel room in question is a Batman-themed room. Pretty cool, right?
Who wouldn’t want to stay in a Bat-lair-esque hotel room? You’re probably ten-years-old on vacation with the family, or you’re a 30-year-old comic geek who doesn’t get laid all that often. Either way, you’re super stoked to stay in this hotel room.
Now imagine what type of person you are, if you’re willing to stay at the Eden Motel, in Kaohsiung, which books any of their 46 love-making rooms for $40-$60 per three-hour stay, including the one above.
Suddenly, the entire enterprise feels a bit icky. It’s not some cool, Disney-like hotel fantasy room. Nope. It feels a bit off; it feels like Joel Schumacher’s disasterous Batman and Robin movie. Attempting to avoid the obvious child molestation joke (because it’s sooo not a joke), which is the giant bat in the Batman room, one immediately wonders whom this room is intended for — aside from Gary Glitter.
If you book the room in the holiday season, the motel will apparently give customers “lubrication, sexy lingerie and other perks.” Though they don’t elaborate on the “other perks” (cosplay outfits?), the themed-love-making rooms are aimed at “fashionable young women, privacy-conscious playboys, and groups looking for a party room with a difference.”
Since many 20-something Taiwanese are still living with their parents, an entire industry has cropped up to appeal to their lusty desires. Which includes getting your Bruce Wayne on.
So, in that sense, it seems less icky and more helpful. Still. Batman makes sense because you’ve got the option of Sexy Catwoman, plus the bondage aspect of it. If you’re really feeling the cosplay kink you could add a little Robin to the mix for a bit of the ole’threesome varietal.
Regardless, the better question to ask, perhaps, is what superhero rooms would you want/not want to get your lust on in?
