On Monday, the timely folks at Jeopardy! included a special category that made use of Mitt Romney’s oft-mocked gaffe from the second 2012 presidential debate. Of course, Romney’s comment sparked one of the best memes of the election, but it quickly died out after Nov. 6.

Sorry, Jeopardy, but memes don’t get resurrected.

How far in advance to they tape the show? If you’re wondering, the FAQ at the Jeopardy! page states: “Normally the shows you see on tv were taped about 2 months in advance.” So this would have been from January or so, maybe even late December, and still way behind the joke.

It’s not the first time the show attempted to be ‘topical.’

Earlier this month, Jeopardy! dedicated an entire round to “Call Me Maybe” sung by Carly Rae Jepsen. That song was a huge hit … last summer.
