On this day in history, February 16, 1959, Fidel Castro was sworn in as the prime minister of Cuba after successfully commanding the 26th of July Movement and its allies in forcing dictator Fulgencio Batista into exile.
Fourteen years earlier, his high school yearbook editors predicted what would come when they had “no doubt he will have a brilliant future.”
