Some say music can save your soul, but in the case of gospel music-loving, nine-year-old Willie Myrick it was able to save his life.

Willie was kidnapped from the driveway of his family’s Atlanta home earlier this month, and stories like this rarely have a happy ending. In the course of a three hour drive with his captor, Willie began singing one of his favorite gospel songs, “Every Praise” by Hezekiah Walker, and the man apparently grew so agitated that he kicked him out of the car.

“He opened the door and threw me out,” Willie said. “He told me not to tell anyone.”

Guess he was more of a country music fan?

Now Willie is sharing his remarkable story. It reached the ears of Hezekiah Walker himself, who was so moved that he flew to Atlanta to meet Willie and give him a big ol’ hug.

“It’s just emotional to me because you never know who you’re going to touch … I just wanted to hug him and tell him I love him,” Walker said.

The video below shows their emotional and miraculous meeting at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church as the choir and congregants sing the song that saved Willie’s life.
