First we saw an 11-year-old brazenly brandish an AR-15 at a rally outside the State House over the weekend, warning adults to “Come and take it.” Now we’ve got word that one of New Hampshire’s elected state representatives used “vagina” as a synonym substitute for “woman” in an official email to the full House email list. Accidental Racist, meet Intentional Sexist.
A local liberal called Susan the Bruce first reported that Rep. Peter Hansen, an Amherst Republican in his second term, crafted a crude email about the debate on April 1 and sent it to the all-House email list.
In it, Hansen sobs openly that “children and vagina’s” were missing from another rep’s debate anecdotes. The Concord Monitor reports:
During his floor speech on the bill, [Rep. Steve] Vaillancourt gave several examples of situations where he had not needed such a law to protect himself. Hansen said he was arguing in his email that the situations could have been different had a woman with children, and not a man, been in danger.
“What could possibly be missing from those factual tales of successful retreat in VT, Germany, and the bowels of Amsterdam? Why children and vagina’s of course,” Hansen wrote… “While the tales relate the actions of a solitary male the outcome cannot relate to similar situations where children and women and mothers are the potential victims.”
Hansen said he used the word “vagina” to make a point.
Far be it from us to undermine Hansen’s “point,” but can we talk for a second about that misplaced apostrophe after “vagina?” Are the vaginas in Hansen’s original email possessive? Do they possess the “of course” that follows? Hansen claims to have a “fairly well educated mind,” so we’ll just assume this dapper gent below knows what he’s doing with his grammar.

Hey, at least someone on the email chain wrote back in shock and horror, which only prompted further derangement from Rep. Hansen:
If you’re curious about the larger issue, the repeal bill passed the House on a 189-184 vote and is now awaiting action by the Republican-led Senate.
