Gallup interviewed 206,186 people over the second half of 2012 and asked, “Do you, personally, identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender?”
The results formed “the largest single study of the distribution” of the American LGBT population and the first of its kind to provide estimates by state. More than 10 percent of Washington DC (not a state, but bqhatevwr) identifies as LGBT, while North Dakota rounds out the, err, bottom with just 1.7 percent.
