Pistol Takes Aim at the Readers on the Front Page of The Decatur Daily

Due to the outbreak of gun violence in this country, crescendoing in the tragic events of Sandy Hook, gun culture is no longer a topic that legacy media outlets can choose to ignore. Granted, their coverage it isn’t always tasteful, as was the case with the NY Post, but at least it starts the conversation.

Yet, nothing has made as strong a statement as Friday morning’s cover of Alabama’s The Decatur Daily, which features Whitney Wright pointing the barrel of a .38-caliber pistol at the reader. For readers, I imagine it’s quite a shock to sit down with your morning cup of coffee and have a pistol being pointed at your first thing in the morning.
