UPDATE: The Booty Lounge did indeed return!
Times were tough in Detroit back in 2011: soaring unemployment, 40 percent of residents were below the poverty line, and the city’s only boon — a mobile strip club called The Booty Lounge parked conveniently outside of Lions games — was heartlessly shut down.
Most of Detroit’s economic realities haven’t changed much, but good news for sports (and booty) fans: According to a post on the bump-and-grind-mobile’s Facebook page, the booty is BACK:
“GREAT NEWS, LOOK FOR US BACK AT THE LIONS TAILGATES!!! WE WERE THERE DURING THE WORST AND NOW WE WILL BE THERE FOR THEIR BEST! THANK YOU CITY OF DETROIT”
Not to be whatever, but the Lions were 5-0 when the club was shut down in 2011, so we wouldn’t really call that “the worst.” But we won’t split lion hairs.
The validity of the Facebook post hasn’t been verified, but we imagine Booty Lounge 2.0 will be similar to the maiden voyage. In the original incarnation, the bus was stationed in Detroit’s Eastern Market, the site for Lions tailgating, and patrons were required to pay $10 upon entry (not THAT kind of entry) on top of the obligatory tips.
Here’s a Buzz60 video to remind you of what was, and so you can anticipate all the fun to come.
Lions fans, enjoy your hotdogs and hot buns!
