Video Retrospective: Earl Scruggs, 1924–2012 Earl Scruggs’ three-finger banjo-picking inspired the likes of Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and multiple generations of countless others, from Steve Martin to the Avett Brothers and even the Sleepy Man Banjo Boys, whose lead picker is a 9-year-old who’d make Scruggs proud.
