Three lemon sharks held captive inside a 33-ton aquarium at the Shanghai Orient Shopping Center have successfully executed their escape plan.

Last Wednesday, December 19th, the tank, which sports almost 6-inch thick acrylic glass, suddenly ruptured, injuring 15 people. Eight customers, along with 9 other shopping assistants and security personnel, sustained serious injuries when the tank burst, sending flying shards of glass and gallons of water cascading onto the unsuspecting individuals.

Although no official reason has been given for the tank eruption, some believe the sudden change in temperature may be the cause.

This isn’t the first time there has been an incident with the aquarium. Back in June, a ruptured pipe led the death of two sharks and the removal of several turtles. Chen Yongping, a spokseman for the mall said they had no plans to “build an aquarium again in the future.”
