Powerful conservative Jim DeMint unexpectedly announced his resignation from the Senate, leaving a seat to fill in the great Appalachian Trail-hiking, You Lie-yelling state of South Carolina. Know anyone to fill it?

“Let’s see, you want somebody young, somebody conservative, somebody who’s from South Carolina, maybe somebody who had a super PAC …”

That’s Stephen Colbert from Thursday night’s episode of the Colbert Report. It’s too bad he shut that whole Super PAC down a week after the election, but all hope is not lost — if you tweet #SenatorColbert at South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, who is charged with appointed an interim successor until a special election in 2014, she might just get the message.
