New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano, one of the best hitters in the major leagues, became a U.S. citizen on Tuesday.

“Very proud day for me, I just became a US citizen, God bless America!,” the All-Star Dominican tweeted. Congratulations, Robbie!

Cano had an outstanding year for the Yankees, but as the newly minted citizen hit the postseason, Cano became mired in an 0-for-26 slump that now ranks as the longest hitless streak ever put up in a single playoffs.
