Penn Jillette Thinks Obama Is a Big, Fat, Pot-Smoking Hypocrite

Magician and outspoken libertarian Penn Jillette takes the president to task for steamrolling states’ medicinal-marijuana rights in this installment of “Penn’s Sunday School.” And when we say “taking him to task,” we mean laying into Obama with the furor of the Twelve Olympians.

Libertarian or not, you have to admit Jillette has a point: Under our current system in which one in six prisoners, primarily working-class black men, is incarcerated for minor drug charges, Obama — who has joked about dabbling in a the green and even a little coke — would never have become president had he been arrested. And his flippant attitude about his own drug use is insulting to low-income Americans, who face police action the upper and middle classes couldn’t possibly comprehend.

“If Obama had been caught with the marijuana he says he use[d], would his life have been better? He would have done hard fucking time … in hard federal prison. … He would not have been president of the United States of America. He would have been in fucking prison, and it’s not a goddamn joke. … The people who do this stuff do not deserve to be in prison.”

“One in six people in prison are in there for weed. There’s this addendum … ‘maybe we’ll help them with treatment.’ You smoke dope, you’re the president of the U.S., you don’t need treatment. … These laws would not allow us to have the president of the United States you have now.”
