A gunman opened fire in the cafeteria of Chardon High School near Cleveland, Ohio, Monday morning. Half a mile away, the FBI arrested a suspect, believed to be a student.

Police received a report saying another student may have been involved. Students were sent to a nearby elementary, where police searched backpacks and belongings. The high school is on lockdown as of 8:30 a.m.

A 17-year-old boy is listed in serious condition at Hillcrest Hospital. An 18-year-old girl is listed in stable condition.

Multiple sources have identified the gunman as Chardon junior T.J. Lane, who may have tweeted about bringing a gun to school.

Here’s his (unconfirmed) Facebook.

Two teachers, Coach Frank Hall and Joseph Ricci, allegedly chased the gunman out of the school. See students’ tweets recounting the event and the teachers’ bravery.

Charton’s 911 call:

From USA Today:

Students screamed and ran in panic through the halls when gunfire broke out around 7:30 a.m. at the 1,100-student Chardon High School.

Heather Ziska, 17, said she was in the cafeteria when she and other students heard popping noises in the hall. She said she saw a boy she recognized as a fellow student come into the cafeteria and start shooting.

She said she and several others immediately ran outside, while other friends ran into a middle school and others locked themselves in a teachers’ lounge.

“Everybody just started running,” said 17-year-old Megan Hennessy, who was in class when she heard loud noises. “Everyone was running and screaming down the hallway.”

Details are still coming in.
