For $1.75 Million, You Can Buy the House That ‘Brought Down’ Whitney Houston

I’m no realtor, but selling Whitney Houston‘s mansion should be easy. You just say it’s Whitney Houston’s mansion. How necessary is it to go into detail about the singer’s “fall from musical power and grace,” “infamous moments” and the “activity that brought down this incredible diva?”

The late singer hasn’t even been buried yet, but already, agent Car Property Pro is capitalizing on the publicity surrounding her death to flip the New Jersey home where Being Bobby Brown was filmed:

This has undeniable celebrity lineage, history and patina. From the storied soaring success of the young Whitney Houston, to her marriage ceremony with Bobby Brown, this house and 4 car garage Car Property, hosted some of the music industries most infamous moments.

This house was also the scene of the activity that brought down this incredible musical diva over a 15 year cycle. The mansion was also used in the filming of a 2005 reality show in which she and her ex-husband appeared at the pinnacle of Whitney Houston’s fall from musical power and grace.

With all of this incredible star studded history, if you owned this house you would always have these incredible stories to go with it. A great conversation piece for anyone.

Instead of selling Whitney Houston’s house, complete with “soaring” ceilings worthy of a Houston-caliber star, light as brilliant as Houston’s voice and regal interiors as warm as Houston’s smile, you’re literally advertising the house Bobby Brown did crack in. Is it just me, or is that just not a great selling point? As AdWeek put it, “it’s like trying to sell Graceland by hyping up the master bathroom.”

Of course the agent anticipated lots of ugly questions and decided to put his own spin on the house’s not-so-glamorous history. Her drug issues are public knowledge. But people actually like this woman and want to remember her for her talents, not her turbulent marriage and addictions. Just commemorate the woman, dammit. Or at least wait until after her funeral to exploit her tabloid-friendly past in a sales listing.
