To paraphrase Chris Rock, if a woman tells you she’s 20 and looks 16, she’s 12. If she tells you she’s 26 and looks 26, she’s damn near 40. If she tells you she wants you to fly across the country for a foursome with her and her two tween daughters, she’s a FEDERAL AGENT.

There are a lot of stupid people in the world. By most people’s definition, Yaron Segel, an MIT researcher, is not one of them. Yet the Israeli-born physicist, 30, charged with traveling with intent to engage in a sexual act with a person under 12, proved himself to be a pitifully easy target.

He first attracted the attention of federal agents during visits to chat rooms titled “childslavesex” and “ChildRapeTortureBrutality” in early February. Department of Homeland Security agent Vanessa Hipps contacted him, posing as the mother of two daughters, ages 12 and 16. Segal said he was interested in having sex with Hipps and her daughters and offered to fly to Colorado from Massachusetts for a weekend.

Over the course of a few weeks, Segal sent nude pictures of himself and linked to adult websites, where he linked Hipps to sex toys he wanted to buy for her children. On the phone, he told Hipps he would take “a dildo” and a “small vibrator for the youngest child.” Later, he emailed, “Got the toys. Those are some big cocks.”

On Wednesday, he flew to Colorado, where he was immediately arrested and taken into custody. If he’s found guilty, he could face a minimum of 30 years.

Of course, when you don’t expect to get arrested for egregiously illegal and immoral sex abuses, you don’t bother editing your online identity. A few of Segal’s Facebook pictures, including a bizarre image of Madonna with a naked man (above) and, for some reason, a copy of his Yale employment forms, remain public.
