“After years when the number of murders reached alarming levels of up to 18 per day, we saw not one homicide in the country,” El Salvador President Mauricio Funes about a murder-free Saturday

Nobody was murdered in El Salvador on Saturday. Not one murder. That made Saturday the first day without a murder in the Central American nation of six million in THREE YEARS.

“Rival gangs operating in El Salvador called a truce last month and bloodshed between the country’s two most powerful gangs, Mara Salvatrucha and gang Mara 18, has abated,” Reuters reported.

Pretty soon all Saturdays in El Salvador will look like Frank the Tank’s: “Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we’re going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don’t know, I don’t know if we’ll have enough time.”
