After reading the Best of Best of Best of 2012 lists on your new iPad and skimming your astrological predictions for 2013, what else is there to do in that uneventful news cycle stretch from Christmas to New Year’s?
Don’t fear, because local Houston radio station WBAP wasn’t going to leave you hanging during the holidays. Thursday, the station sent out an email declaring the death of former President George H.W. Bush.
The only problem? Bush was still very much alive. Though the 88 year old was checked into intensive care Wednesday after a month of treatment in a local Houston area hospital for bronchitis, he still remains very much alive, per this statement from family spokesman Jim McGrath:
“President Bush remains in the intensive care unit at Methodist Hospital, where he continues to improve. The President is alert and, as always, in good spirits — and his exchanges with doctors and nurses now include singing. The Bushes thank everyone for their prayers and good wishes and, like their doctors, are cautiously optimistic that the current course of treatment will be effective.”
Like a dude mistakenly assuming a fat woman is pregnant, WBAP was quick to issue an apology for their embarrassing faux pas.
Back in January of this year, many major media outlets including CBS Sports and Huffington Post falsely sounded the death in the case of Joe Paterno, which prompted many heckles of this Monty Python scene.Dallas Observer]
