It’s all in the (campaign) game, yo. According to the Sunlight Foundation’s Party Time blog, the Obama Victory Fund is holding a fundraiser with the cast of The Wire in Martha’s Vineyard Aug. 15.

President Obama won’t be there, sadly, although he’s said that The Wire is his favorite show and Omar his favorite character (but “that’s not an endorsement”).

It’s a weird pairing: The Vineyard is about as far from the Towers as you can get. But why not bring in the idolized cast of a TV show beloved among liberals? You got to. This is America, man.

The hosts of the event, whose cost ranges from $500 to $2,500 a person, are Judy and Ron Davenport, who previously hosted then-Senator Obama in 2007.

No one knows which actors plan to take a break from guest-starring in every single TV show since 2006 and show up. But Michael K. Williams, who played gay vigilante robber Omar on the HBO drama, reportedly said, “I’ll do what I can to help y’all. But the game’s out there, and it’s play or get played. That simple.”
