The Real Victims of Norwegian Mass Murder: American Christians
By now you’ve heard all about the 76 Norwegians who lost their lives at the hands of 32-year-old car bomber, cold-blooded gunman and noted Unabomber plagiarist Anders Behring Breivik.
But until now, you probably didn’t know who the real victims were.
The real victims weren’t the poor souls who lost their lives that day. They weren’t the families of those poor souls who lost their lives that day. They weren’t the rest of the grieving nation, or Labour Party leaders, or intended target Gro Harlem Brundtland, or anyone who still wishes to live in a multi-cultural society.
No, the real victims were American Christians.
That’s according to Michael Brown, syndicated talk show host and author of the absurdly titled “A Queer Thing Happened to America: And What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been.” In his reaction piece for the right-wing Town Hall website, Brown notes that Christians will now have a bullying target on their backs:
Sadly, the atmosphere in our country has become so toxic that venerable ministries like Focus on the Family and the American Family Association have been branded as “hate groups” by the Southern Poverty Law Center, while People for the American Way sends out regular warnings about evangelical Christian leaders on its RightWingWatch website. And this will surely intensify in the days to come in the wake of the tragedy in Norway.
Focus on the Family and the American Family Association may not be “hate groups” in the way that the Ku Klux Klan performed lynches. But they do spread vile, vicious hate about their fellow brothers and sisters on this planet. Focus founder James Dobson once said, “Communities do not let prostitutes, pedophiles, voyeurs, adulterers and those who sexually prefer animals to publicly celebrate their lifestyle, so why should homosexuals get such privileges?”
An AFA Journal article once suggested that LGBT acceptance is leading to a “grotesque culture” that will include “quick encounters in the middle school boys’ restroom.” And in its Homosexuality in America booklet, the AFA goes on to claim that “[p]rominent homosexual leaders and publications have voiced support for pedophilia, incest, sadomasochism, and even bestiality.” One of its fundraising letters went on to say “Since homosexuals cannot reproduce, the only way for them to ‘breed’ is to RECRUIT! And who are their targets for recruitment? Children!” The examples are endless. These are just a few.
Ahh, poor hate-mongers. Tonight, hopefully, Norwegians will hold a candlelight vigil in your honor.
