Texas Judge Caught on Cam Mercilessly Beating Disabled Daughter

“An angry father is most cruel towards himself,” Publilius Syrus is said have written in 1st century BC. But after watching this video and reading this story, you’ll see why that’s total bullroar.
Sometimes an angry father is just a jerk who’s most cruel towards the disabled daughter he’s beating mercilessly. Publilius’ words may turn out to be true if and when he pays for these crimes against humanity, but that’s likely not what the Latin maxim writer intended to mean.
A video uploaded to YouTube on October 27th shows a man severely beating a girl with a belt. The level of venom and violence in each lash cannot even be measured — it’s painful to watch, painful to not watch, painful to know you can’t jump through the screen and intervene.
The girl apparently downloaded music and games from the Internet that were not available for legal purchase. The father didn’t take too kindly to that. Perhaps she might be excused for her transgressions due to the fact that she was born with ataxic cerebral palsy. Nope, no leniency.
The man in the video is a court-at-law judge in southeast Texas. Judge not lest ye be beaten harshly? It’s all here in this description, posted with the video:
So why post the video now, so many years later? The girl in the video, Hillary Adams, took to the popular social bookmarking site Reddit to explain: “It’s definitely me. 
I was holding onto the video until the right time, and after a barrage of harassment from my father over the phone, I snapped and finally uploaded it. Now I’m sorry I didn’t do it sooner,” she wrote as shoeofallcosmos. (updated with more below)
WARNING: This is extremely difficult to watch. Seriously. There’s real physical and emotional abuse. In addition to a severe whipping, you’ll hear things like, “If I hear so much as you raising your f&*king voice to me or your mother with the wrong tone or do one little thing or you look at me f&*king wrong, I’m going to wear your f&*king a$$ out with this belt.” You’ve been warned.

Good lord. That’s the kind of anger one might pour onto someone who’s abused their child, but for someone to focus that kind of rage and resentment onto their own flesh and blood? That’s pathological. That’s a cry for help. That’s a reason to spend years behind bars. This man is judging others?
Adams has ruled that you can never take the word of a child in abuse cases. “According to Judge William Adams, all children are fantasizers and their testimony should just be ignored. Anyone who believes a child should be sanctioned. This really happened,” writes one angry blog commenter.
It’d be easy to say “He clearly isn’t winning re-election,” but this is Texas. Who knows.
UPDATES: Judge Adams spoke to KRIS-TV in Corpus Christi about the video: “It happened years ago,” he said. “I apologized.” He added, “It’s not as bad as it looks on tape.”

The ex-wife, Hallie Adams responded to the video on her Facebook page. She wrote: “I am praying for my daughters and me and my family to heal in all ways from emotional and physical abuse, for the current and continuing abuse of my children and me that has been ongoing to end – starting now – for my daughters to both finally be able to go to counseling both individually and as a family group with their Dad’s approval, encouragement, involvement and support, for him to finally make amends to all of us, talk openly with us, and take the first steps to letting our broken family heal.”
Hillary Adams also spoke to KRIS. She says people “believe us now.”
Adams said she hopes her father can get help to, but says when she said she told her father what she planned on doing, he didn’t seem to think anything would happen.
“I told him that I had the video, and he acted like he had nothing to worry about,” Adams said. “And I said, I can post the video, of you beating me on the internet, and he said, ‘well, you can do that if it makes you feel better.’ So I did.”
600,000 hits later, she says she feels like it’s a form of therapy. People, who didn’t trust her before, now do.
“People are believing us now, instead of calling us liars like they have in the past,” she said.
