Miami Herald Congratulates Miami Heat as NBA Champions, Pres. McCain Approves

Posted June 13, 2011 2:21pm by

Most people know that the NBA Finals ended last night. And almost all of those people know that the Dallas Mavericks beat the Miami Heat in six games for the franchise’s first basketball championship, one that cemented Dirk Nowitzki’s NBA legacy.

Well, almost everyone. Someone at the Miami Herald has some ‘splainin’ to do.

It didn’t seem to make a difference that the Miami Heat were already down 3-2 in the series and that only the Mavericks could have won the Finals by winning Sunday night’s game. Somehow this ad ran in the sports section, right underneath the large headline of “Dallas Wins Best-of-Seven Series 4-2″

The Miami Heat gear heralded the NBA team as the new champions with some T-shirts proclaiming “Raise Another Banner!” Unfortunately, masses of Heat fans had to wake up Monday morning and see the erroneous full page ad staring them in the face. Maybe next year the Herald should volunteer some writers to play for the Heat; they’re optimistic even after their team loses the entire series.
