Michael Jackson’s personal physician, Conrad Murray, who administered a fatal dose of sleeping medication to the singer in 2009, has been sentenced to four years in prison, TMZ reports.

It’s the maximum sentence for involuntary manslaughter.

On the flip side, Murray will serve his time in L.A. County Jail because of a new California law, and in all likelihood, he will only serve two years of his sentence.

Not too shabby for accidentally killing one of the world’s most beloved pop stars.

“There are those who feel Dr. Murray is a saint. There are those who feel he’s the devil. He is neither. He’s a human being,” said Judge Pastor, who ruled Murray must pay an $800 court fine, a $30 court security fee, and a $40 criminal conviction assessment.

The judge made passing mention of ordering Murray to pay the Jackson Estate an “appropriate restitution,” but balked at the suggested $100 million requested by the prosecution.

In the end, the judge said, “Dr. Murray abandoned his patient,” calling his action’s “a disgrace to the medical profession,.” The judge also admitted he believed the doctor led an impressive life but acted recklessly when it came to his famous patient.
