Florida Teen Jerks Vandalize Local Businesses, Leave Easy Trail for Police

Posted December 20, 2011 10:14am by

Kids in America are being arrested more than ever, largely due to more stringent police policies. But if there were any group of teenagers that deserved to be out in bracelets, it would be this group of Florida teens who uploaded to YouTube videos of themselves trashing local businesses.

The video, titled “How to Shop,” was uploaded a week ago and features three Riverview teens walking through stores and knocking down aisles of food in grocery stores, skateboarding through stores, knocking down shelves of books, and jumping through toy displays.

It’s a sad confluence of dumb, bored kids, bad parenting, and tantalizing Internet stardom.

There’s also F*&kin Up Supermarkets 2, which is even worse:

“These kids are nothing but a bunch of punks. They got nothing better to do,” said Tampa police office Harry Augello, who is now investigating the video. “So they’re going to go and try and intimidate whoever they can out there. If there was any damage done to any of the property, you’re looking at probably criminal mischief. And at the very least, you want to get these kids trespassed.”

The Internet, being the Internet, has taken it upon itself to help the cops identify these teens. Police say they know one of the teens for sure and have a good idea of the other two involved. One of the people involved, David Sylvestry, even posted the video to his Facebook wall, WOKV reports.

As of posting time, there doesn’t seem to be any update on whether police have paid a visit to Sylvestry and his friends, but the gang over at Reddit have taken mugshots from the video and contacted the teen’s high school principal. Nobody does Internet justice like Reddit.

Sylvestry has to be the dumbest teen vandal in history to upload a video like that and add links to his Facebook page. The idea is to not leave a trail of easily identifiable bread crumbs when committing crime. Then again, if you don’t get caught, you don’t become Internet famous. Tough dilemma!

What would you do to these kids if you were a store owner? How about if you were their parent? Tell us in the comments section below.
