One very concerned citizen in Leicester, England is worried about how prepared his town is for a zombie outbreak. And after using a Freedom of Information request, he found out just how prepared the town is for such a post-apocalyptic nightmare: not at all.

From the BBC, here’s the letter in full:

Dear Leicester City Council,

Can you please let us know what provisions you have in place in the event of a zombie invasion? Having watched several films it is clear that preparation for such an event is poor and one that councils throughout the kingdom must prepare for.

Please provide any information you may have.

Yours faithfully,
Concerned Citizen

Lynn Wyeth, head of information governance, said that “she was unaware of any specific reference to a zombie attack in the council’s emergency plan, however some elements of it could be applied if the situation arose.”

Thankfully the concerned citizen brought the undead negligence to the attention of the city council. The anonymous savior of Leicester has been keeping close watch on city, ready to alert the authorities if they are falling down on their zombie due diligence.

Some people, however, think that “Concerned Citizen” may be exaggerating about a zombie attack on Leicester. According to the BBC, “Ed Thurlow, who runs zombie website Terror4Fun, said he felt a zombie invasion in Leicester was highly unlikely. ‘I think perhaps [the “Concerned Citizen”] has watched films like 28 Days Later a few too many times.”

Though concerned citizens and zombie website creators may dispute the possibility of outbreaks in certain places, the CDC here in the States is taking precautions in case of an actual zombie attack.

The CDC site contains helpful steps for preparing for an oncoming zombie assault including necessary supplies, emergency plans and emergency contact numbers.

In case you’re worried that the walking undead would start the collapse of all government: “If zombies did start roaming the streets, CDC would conduct an investigation much like any other disease outbreak. CDC would provide technical assistance to cities, states, or international partners dealing with a zombie infestation.”

Phew! The CDC site, though, is severely lacking on helpful recommendations for zombie-fighting weapons and zombie-fighting styles.

Besides, reading the CDC site comes with a price. Adding all that knowledge to your head will make your brain more juicy and delicious, the perfect snack for a zombie on the go.
