It’s amazing how serious a message you can send when you don’t take yourself so seriously. Through their patented brand of humor, logic and wit, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert’s Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear offered the most compelling plea for reasonableness ever given in the Cable News Era, without ever once hitting the crowd over the head with politics. They didn’t even tell us to vote.

We’ll have much more coverage of the dueling rallies throughout the evening and weekend, but we wanted to publish this mega-gallery as quickly as possible. It contains the ironically hilarious and the hilariously ironic, with a touch of the tragically witty thrown in for good measure.
