On January 27th, President Barack Obama declared during his first State of the Union address that the time had come to repeal the 17-year-old discriminatory policy known as Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. On Saturday, he won a major legislative battle, and brave men and women in uniform will now be able to serve their country openly and proudly when the new law’s fully implemented.
The repeal of this policy will have virtually no negative effect on the United States military at large, according to its civilian and military leaders after concluding an exhaustive nine-moth study. But some kind-hearted Christians aren’t too thrilled with the Senate’s final 65-31 vote, and they’re up in arms about this latest victory for the radical homosexual agenda.
CNSNews.com — Cybercast News Services — uses the slogan “The Right News. Right Now,” so you can just guess the direction in which their coverage veered. The 12-year-old self-proclaimed “news source” owned and operated by the right-wing Media Research Center has been run since 2007 by Terry Jeffrey, author of the new book “Control Freaks: 7 Ways Liberals Plan to Ruin Your Life” and countless hyperbolic columns like “Obama is the Most Pro-Abortion Candidate Ever.”
In an article about the DADT repeal with the longest headline ever, “Straight Troops Must Shower With Gays, Says DOD Working Group–‘Gay Men Have Learned to Avoid Making Heterosexuals Feel Uncomfortable or Threatened in Situations Such as This’,” CNSNews fixates on the idea that gay troops showering with straight troops might somehow endanger our military, our straight soldiers and the world, and may in some cases lead to unwanted advances. It’s something straight out of the 1940s, and it continuously refers to gay troops as “homosexuals” in the most belittling way possible.
But it’s the commenters on the article that really shine. And even though it’s best never to feed to the trolls, it’s important to take a look at what hate and intolerance looks like in 2010.
Here are some examples:
MMiikkee: It’s fun to stay at the USMC
It’s fun to stay at the USMC
They have every thing for a man to enjoy
you can hant out with all the boys
Tbrowne2: Will soon follow the examples of Rome and Germany?
tommy23: Really, I’m glad. I am not in the military. But, I feel sorry for the straight soldiers. Because, they have perverts looking at them. Well, I see the straight soldiers leaving the military for Obama’s New world order of Evil.
Do not sign this in to law: A bunch of Harvard, AND Yale so called idiots (and I mean IDIOTS) who do not have to live out the circumstances of their decision made this crap up. It’s good for buying votes from a bunch of loons…they say. I do not care what the polls say. The miltary overwhelmingly is disgusted by what is coming through the pipline. THOSE THAT ARE NOT DISGUSTED NEED TO BE THROWN OUT FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
onebentgrunt, ironically named, made two comments: maybe they will create a new brigade called RUMP RANGERS and now our enemy will fight harder cause he will fear being screwed rather than killed.
W4JLE [Moderator]: On top of having to put your butt in danger from an enemy, now you will have to worry about the blood you get to keep you alive giving you AIDS. In the field checking the blood for disease is not possible. All you puffers can do your marching in the Gay pride parade!
BOOM$$$: To allow a few gays to fight for their country “openly”, they’re going to lose a lot more, better fighting less hassle straights! Why can’t the select few gays make a little sacrifice in their life and keep their sexual orientation to themselves? Instead the majority has to make a much bigger sacrifice to make a few whiney fags happy!
ashrom: Who knew that General Patraeus was a f aggot? I’m guessing the percentage of gays in the pentagon is equal to the percentage of gays in the military.
That’s just a small sample. We’d hate to give these trolls their due, and we’d hate to send you their way and give them traffic, but some of these just have to be seen to be believed.
