The 23rd annual International Snow Sculpture Championships was held in Breckenridge, Colorado, this past Saturday. This isn’t a competition for just anyone who’s sculpted a lopsided snowman with some clumps of grass and dirt lodged in the torso. You’ve gotta be able to roll some pretty big balls to keep up with the 15 international teams who were invited to participate.
Pete Lucchetti, captain of Team USA / Alaska, preparing to motorboat those sweet snow pillows he sculpted.
Team Iceland inside their 12 foot tall sculpture called Lopapeysa, meaning stereotypical sweater. The sculpture also serves as Bjork’s winter time home.
Team Great Britain / Wales were inspired by the nightmares of children.
Team Canada / Yukon was captioned by Don Watt’s majestic moustache.
Anheuser-Busch and their frost brews sponsored the competition.
Team Australia peeks their heads of their sculpture inspired by an Emu egg.
Team China’s entry took a note from Disney’s It’s a Small World ride.
The Mongolian Warriors sculpture points the way to the closest P.F. Changs.
