Forget China’s exploding manhole covers or Omaha’s flaming sewers, Tel Aviv takes the cake for most Acme-esque public works department.

Tel Aviv city authorities repainted a parking spot as a designated handicap zone while a car was parked there. Then, after painting was complete, they towed the car away for parking illegally because it didn’t have a permit. Your brain can’t even comprehend the idiocy of this story until you see it.

The owner of the car, Hila Ben Baruch, received an apology from the city which negated her $270 fine and the $90 towing fee.
