The Casting Society of America has, unsuccessfully, petitioned the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences three times over the past two decades to add a Best Casting Director award. It should try yet again, and the Academy really ought to cave to this demand, after we learned the news back in early 2012 that Michael K. Williams, aka Omar from The Wire, had been cast to play Ol’ Dirty Bastard in a forthcoming film. Total winner.

Williams is channeling ODB well, in radio interviews and live performances. On Wednesday night, Williams tweeted links to his recent rap cameo at Brooklyn Bowl to benefit Sandy relief. Check out his “Brooklyn Zoo.”
