Well, this is certainly Coolio as f*&k.

Coolio played a gig in Preston, UK, this week, where the rapper and gourmet chef met Olivia Johnson-Aley and her friends. “He said he wanted to cook for me and my house mates the following night,” she explained in the YouTube description, “and that’s exactly what happened.”

The University of Central Lancashire group took a break from the cooking session for an acoustic jam session, and someone at the intimate gathering (with Vertical Video Syndrome) filmed the obligatory “Gangsta’s Paradise” that followed. This is just one of those surreal, awesome nights.

Redditor lorcantc immediately went online to share the story:

He was playing a gig in our city, and a few of my housemates were in the VIP after party. He came back to our house afterwards, and told us that he wasn’t busy that night so would come over and cook us dinner. We had Coolio’s Caprese Salad, Chicken á la Daaaamn, and Peach Crumble. We also videoed a cooking show (“Cookin’ with Coolio”). It was just as weird as it sounds.
Great guy though, had some very deep and profound thoughts on life and his time in the business.

More from lorcantc:

It was fascinating. He shared a lot of thoughts about his time with Tupac, including how he spoke with him the day he died. A lot of insight in to his upbringing and life on the streets. He is pretty switched on. I not only learned how to sharpen a knife last night, but a lot of deep life lessons from Coolio. All whilst sipping from a bottle of Petron [sic].

And another “Cooking With Coolio” Instavid from ClaudiaDoherty:

Some Redditors are wondering why they filmed it. The response:

I guess they wanted their own slice of the memory to keep and share forever. To be fair, who would believe this story without video evidence? I agree that one camera might have been enough. But hey, I now at least have a video of me playing guitar with Coolio from multiple angles.

That seems totally fair. Pics, vids or GTFO, as they say.
