That SchwarzeVito vehicle Twins was pretty good. When you put a big jacked dude together with a short li’l nebbish and call them “twins,” the result is high comedy typical of the 1980s.

So, yeah, it was good. It was funny. But, as CNN likes to say, let’s leave it there. Whatever you do, don’t re-make this thing. And don’t put out a sequel 24 years after the fact. Just let it be.

Unfortunately, according to this Hollywood Reporter exclusive, not only are they reuniting Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger for a sequel, but they’re adding Eddie Murphy. Triplets is born.

Titled Triplets, the story would see Schwarzenegger and DeVito as brothers Julius and Vincent, conceived experimentally, who discover they have third sibling.

The project doesn’t have a director at this early stage — Ivan Reitman, who helmed the original, would only act as a producer with his Montecito Picture Co. cohorts Joe Medjuk, Tom Pollock and Ali Bell, according to sources — but the hunt is on for writers to develop the idea. Insiders caution that no substantial creative discussions have taken place between Universal and Montecito.

The actors are attached to star.

There must have been a huge shipment of Bad Idea Jeans to Universal and Montecito this month.

Sometimes sequels are a good idea (see Anchorman 2, for example). This is not one of those times.
