To promote their latest album, Nine Types of Light, which dropped today, TV on the Radio decided the best course of action would be to not just make a music video, because one or two videos would be too simple, but to make a music movie of the entire album.
“Nine Types of Light is as much an album as it is a movie by TV on the Radio,” says the band over on YouTube. The movie is meant to be a visual re-imagining of the record, and includes a music video for every song on the album.”
Frontman Tunde Adebimpe is listed as the film’s director, but the videos themselves were created by various filmmakers. Adebimpe storyboarded the entire movie and added some “interviews from local New Yorkers on various topics, including dreams, love, fame and the future.”
The movie is only an hour long, so if you’re on the fence about whether or not to illegally download their new album, the movie is probably as good a place to start as any.
