So There Is Now a Pro Golf Boy Band

Posted June 15, 2011 8:11am by

Here are four words you’d never think to put together in one sentence: pro golf + boy band.

Golf is one of the few sports you can play forever, a game with a thriving senior tour and a fan base that skews older than most other athletics. But the PGA Tour has recently become more appealing to young people as younger golfers with bright, bold personalities continue to emerge near or at the top of tournament leaderboards.

And now the PGA Tour has its very own boy band: Professional golfers Ben Crane, Rickie Fowler, Bubba Watson and Hunter Mahan have teamed up to form Golf Boys (shoulda gone with Fresh Meat), and the quartet’s new single “Oh Oh Oh” is actually available on iTunes (proceeds of the single go to charity).

We’re guessing that Crane is the ringleader, given that we’ve written about his hijinx before — back in April he posted a video of himself channeling Community’s Dean Pelton with some suave dance moves.

Even if your father is rolling his eyes back into his head, this is awesome. It’s fun, it’s light, it’s four guys not taking themselves so seriously in a sport where a slight camera click is enough to piss someone off.

Jack Nicklaus must be rolling over in his grave…wait, he’s not dead?
