It’s time for an impromptu trivia question: Which of these things is the hardest to believe?
A) It’s 2011
B) Maury Povich still has an eponymous show on the air
C) He’s still doing paternity tests
D) People still use MySpace
E) Rupert Murdoch bought MySpace for $580 million in 2006
F) All of the above
On a recent edition of Maury, the show featured a surprise paternity test. Yet again! Only this time in the classic tale of “Who’s your daddy?,” some guy tried to claim that MySpace co-founder Tom Anderson was actually the father of the baby. The evidence? Anderson was the first friend made by the mother on the social network. We’re not Sherlock Holmes, but we’d say this is an open and shut case.
It’s like the Twinkie defense but waaaay more brilliant in its stupidity.
Let that clip wash over you for a moment. Bask in its utter ridiculousness. Ponder what it must be like for Maury Povich to get his creaky body out of bed every morning to go to work knowing that his life is nothing but an endless string of ridiculous paternity tests and people that still use MySpace.
Also? This guy is laughing all the way to Rupert Murdoch’s bank.
