There’s a moment when ever kid takes a deep breath and realizes that indeed the music their parents listened to actually had a profound influence over them.

If you’re lucky, you realize that things like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Grateful Dead, CCR and The Band are pretty rad. Or if you’re even younger you might be lucky enough to have a parent who was into The Pixies, The Replacements and The Ramones.

Sorry, but there’s nothing that can be done for you if your parents listen to The Eagles, James Taylor and Dan Fogerty. Sorry, but thems the breaks, as they say.

Sonos put together this huge infographic, which is actually more like a flowchart, examining how the music of your father probably influenced the music you listen to. It’s not entirely comprehensive, but it is frighteningly scary, to a degree.

If your dad listened to the Beatles exclusively, it probably means you would answer yes to listening to everything from KISS to Jack Johnson. Go figure.
