Lost in the will-they-or-won’t-they-shuffle of the Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake Marine Corps Ball drama is the revelation that Marine Sergeant Ray Lewis, whose hip-hop alter ego is RSonic, has stepped up to the plate to ask another celebrity for a date to the ball.
Now that celebrities accepting soldiers’ dates are all the rage, one would think that Lewis could ask just about any celebrity and they would feel a sense of obligation to say yes. He could ask Halle Berry or Charlize Theron or Jessica Biel or Jessica Alba and they would all pretty much feel the pressure to accept after Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake said yes.
Which is why it’s awesome that Lewis didn’t ask any of those hotties out. He chose none other than Betty White. Yes, the octogenarian funny lady.
Now, you may think this is a parody, certainly one commenter on YouTube did, when they wrote, “haha well done. there’s another funny parody of this: ‘Terrorist asks Kim Kardashian to Gala.'” But, Lewis was quick to point out in response, “This is not a parody. Im serious.”
Hopefully Betty White says yes. Because that would be awesome. And hopefully, other Marines get in on the celebrity date action, but they’re going to be hard-pressed to top asking out Betty White.
