ELEW Kills It at DC Party of the Millennium

Posted November 4, 2011 10:18am by

Rockjazz pianist ELEW played for President Barack Obama, Will Smith, Magic Johnson and other members of the high-powered Hollywood elite just two weeks ago.

There was only one way to top that spectacular crowd: playing HyperVocal’s first DC soiree.

Washington’s finest came out in full force to the RIAA offices on Thursday night to celebrate HyperVocal’s first anniversary and toast the expansion of the HyperVocal Network, with three new sites launching in the coming weeks (Distriction, Weeping Elvis and VidSpring will come online shortly, following last week’s jaw-slash-panty-dropping Headlines That Suck launch).

As HyperVocal incorporates into almost everything it does, the rockin’ party doubled as a philanthropic endeavor. Thursday’s invite-only event served as the culmination of the first part of a fundraising campaign for the Justin Bieber-supported Pencils of Promise and kicked off its new partnership with Musicians on Call by raising thousands of dollars for the worthwhile cause.

Here now, for your viewing pleasure, witness the genius of ELEW, beginning with his amazingly unique version of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature”:

As HV co-founder and publisher Lee Brenner said after ELEW’s performance, “Some people are famous for no reason. This is a man who deserves whatever fame may come.”
