Despite having a new record out this year, The Beastie Boys have remained fairly on the down low in support of Hot Sauce Committee Part II. They haven’t toured, they haven’t done too much press, and really, the only thing of note they’ve done was to release that mega-superstar comedy video, Fight For Your Right Revisited, which also doubled as the first video for the new album.

Whatever the reason — maybe MCA’s cancer scare? — it’s strange to see one of the most media savvy bands completely shunning the spotlight. It seems almost counter-intuitive if they hoped to sell some records beyond their core audience.

They’ve come out of their slumber in a big way, teaming up with director Spike Jonze for a fairly epic 11-minute video comprised entirely of toy soldier puppets. The video has all the goofy charm you would expect out of a Beastie Boys and Spike Jonze video.

It’s also nice to have Santigold back, as she’s been laying low for the most part since he debut album blew up in 2008.
