Pictures of China’s Swanky Futuristic Underground Quarry Hotel From AX3Battery: Developed by Shanghai Shimao Property Group, under the management of InterContinental Hotels Group, this underground hotel is expected to extend 19 stories into the bottom of an abandoned quarry, located in Tianmashan. Measuing 100 meters deep, 240 meters long, and 160 wide, this pit has been abandoned since the year 2000, and recently construction begun on the high-end hotel, named InterContinental Shimao Shanghai Wonderland, at the foot of Tianma Mountain (天马山). It’s boasted to be 19 stories tall (or 19 stories deep?), containing 380 rooms, and an underwater restaurant.
