It’s hard to say what’s real and what isn’t when it comes to the Internets. That hot girl you’re talking to? It’s obviously a dude. That mom who’s raising money for her son’s cancer treatment? It’s obviously a personal fundraiser for a trip to Vegas. That guy in the comments section who says he’s gonna track you down and kick your ass? It’s obviously a 13-year-old who just got Bar Mitzvahed.
But this new Tumblr blog called Texts from Bennett claims to be real, and well, that’s good enough for us! Burdon of proof = met. Perhaps we just want it to be legit because it’s so awesome. It’s less than a month old, and you’re going to want to keep an eye on something with this description: “These are text messages I exchange with my 17 year old cousin Bennett. He is a white boy that thinks he’s a crip, works at Amoco, has a girlfriend named Mercedes, and is one of the most unintentionally funny and brilliant souls on the planet. He has no idea I do this blog. Yes, this is 100% real.”
Here are two samples:
And if you’re curious as to what Bennett looks like, we find out on the blog:
That can’t be real, right? It’s almost too perfect. Can’t be real. Can’t be real.
Update: As Gawker discovered via the comments of Redditor Metalstar00, the anonymous person behind everyone’s favorite Tumblr about a delusional wannabe gangsta cousin named Bennett is none other than nerdy, white rapper Mac Lethal. Having two viral sensations in the same day is pretty darn incredible.
